Terra Tech Companies (part of the Russian Space Systems holding of the Roscosmos State Corporation) and Stilsoft have signed a strategic agreement on cooperation in the field of remote sensing of the Earth.
The document was written at the Russian Week of Public-Private Partnership (PPP) — the leading domestic forum dedicated to attracting investment in infrastructure development.
The cooperation of companies is a practical example of cooperation between Russian public and private structures in the field of space monitoring of the Earth using commercial spacecraft. The agreement provides for close cooperation between the parties in the development of private satellite construction and the development of geoinformation services based on satellite imagery data from Russian non-state remote sensing satellites.
In May 2024, it is planned to launch the first private Russian satellite of ultra-high spatial resolution into orbit. The device will be the first in a grouping of nine remote sensing satellites "Stilsat", the development and production of which is engaged in the company "Stilsoft". The full deployment of the group is planned by 2027. Ultra-high-resolution images with an accuracy of up to 50 cm per pixel from Stilsat satellites will meet the needs of government and commercial organizations in data with high detail. The Stilspace company will become the operator responsible for satellite management, reception and primary processing of satellite data.
"We are pleased to partner with Roscosmos and Terra Tech as the leading domestic operator of digital geoservices and services. The joint activity of the state and private business is an important step in the development of the Russian space industry. We believe that this partnership can become a precedent and will allow us to rebuild the remote sensing market by introducing private space companies into it, which will be beneficial to both PPP participants and a wide range of consumers. First of all, our strategic cooperation will increase the availability of detailed satellite imagery data and improve the quality of analytics for all Russian users. Together with Terra Tech, we also plan to create new services and implement projects using remote sensing data from our grouping," said Yuri Stoyanov, General Director of Stilsoft.According to the strategic agreement, Terra Tech will act as an exclusive supplier of satellite images from Stilsat satellites for the services of the State Corporation Roscosmos and a number of federal executive authorities. To integrate remote sensing data obtained from the Stilsat grouping into Roscosmos analysis services, in particular, into the main geo-analytical platform for executive authorities "Digital Earth", work will be carried out to adapt artificial intelligence algorithms developed by Terra Tech.
"For the first time in the Russian market, Terra Tech and Stilsoft will practice the chain of providing satellite survey data: private satellite builder — Roscosmos — consumers. Our cooperation will solve a number of tasks facing the remote sensing industry, primarily in terms of the supply of ultra-high resolution materials. For the market and the state as the main consumer, this is primarily less dependence on foreign suppliers of remote sensing data. Our partners from Stilsoft were the first to take a bold step towards solving this issue. I am sure that the cooperation of our companies will become a positive example of the implementation of the concept of public-private space as an effective tool for the accelerated development of the space industry," said the CEO of Terra Tech Maxim Boltachev. The opening of the industry to commercial companies will allow applying a more flexible pricing policy for data and services, sharing risks in the implementation of remote sensing projects, reducing the burden on the budget, creating new jobs, commercializing the direction and ensuring the growth of the capacity of the geo-market as a whole.
