In February 2024, Russian mechanical engineering saw growth for the twelfth month in a row. Total production in the five engineering industries turned out to be 30.2% higher than in February 2023. At the same time, compared with January, production growth rates remained at previously achieved values. In general, according to Rosstat, in the two months of 2024, the total turnover of enterprises in all sectors of mechanical engineering increased significantly by 59.6% compared to the same period in 2023. Also in February of this year, Rosstat recorded a significant increase in industrial production in all five engineering sectors in annual dynamics. The production of electronics increased at the highest rate.
The Russian manufacturer Micron has launched the assembly of microchips into plastic cases, as well as the production of chip modules for bank cards, electronic documents and SIM cards. Production has been established in a full-cycle format: from the manufacture of integrated circuit crystals to packaging. Thanks to the new plastic housing assembly line, it will be possible to produce more than 40 different products for consumer and general industrial electronics, including for use in telecommunications equipment, automotive electronics, equipment for the Internet of things and smart home, electricity meters, automation, robotics, medical equipment and measuring devices. The new plastic assembly plant will allow the production of up to 18 million packaged chips per year.
The volume of imports of new passenger cars in Russia in the first quarter of 2024 increased 2.5 times year-on-year. Such data was reported by the agency "Autostat". Thus, new passenger cars (up to 3 years old) were imported in the amount of 212.4 thousand units from January to March. The bulk of new passenger cars are still imported from China - in Q1, this country accounted for 66.4% of total imports. Kyrgyzstan took the second place here (24.6%), and Kazakhstan took the third place (3.2%).
The start of the project for the construction of a plant for the serial production of metal-cutting machines in St. Petersburg. FORT LLC has become a full-fledged resident of the SEZ St. Petersburg. In the near future, a lease will be issued at the new site of the Parnas SEZ and a permit for the construction of plant buildings will be issued. The planned construction period is 24 months. The plant will produce horizontal boring machines and milling three- and five-axis machining centers for the space industry, aviation and other areas of mechanical engineering. The company will produce from 150 to 300 pieces of machine tools per year.
