RUSNANO: touch-screen-sensitive prosthetics of "Motorics" with OCSiAl nanotubes are 10-15 times cheaper than analogues

Today, there are more than 1,500,000 people in the world who need prosthetic hands. According to the International Health Organization, only 1 out of 10 receives the necessary assistance in prosthetics. In Russia and the CIS, 50,000 people need prostheses, about 200,000 in Europe and North America, about 640,000 in India and China.

Even those who received a prosthesis, as a rule, did not have the opportunity to use it to work with the touch screens of modern gadgets. The price of such prostheses previously reached $30,000.

The joint work of the companies "Motorika" and OCSiAl, which are part of the contour of the RUSNANO Group, has made it possible to create affordable and modern cyber prostheses, thanks to which thousands of people will have the opportunity to use smartphones and tablets.

Cyber prostheses of "Motorics" with such a function are 10-15 times cheaper than the nearest analogues. The prosthesis, which is sensitive to touch screens, appeared thanks to the use of electrically conductive silicone finger pads with OCSiAl's TUBALL graphene nanotubes, which transmit electric currents of the human body. They are installed on traction and bionic prostheses in basic configurations. 

Flexible and ultra-strong graphene nanotubes are used to improve the properties of conventional materials, making them stronger and lighter. In shape, they resemble a long human hair, only 50,000 times thinner. The minimum effective concentration required to improve the physical properties of materials is 0.01%.
