Belarus and the Austrian state of Vorarlberg have agreed on new joint projects in industry

Belarus ' Ambassador to Austria Andrey Dapkiunas has visited the federal state of Vorarlberg, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Embassy in Vienna.

"This federal state, as well as Upper Austria and Styria, belongs to the most developed regions of the country. There are about 20 thousand enterprises operating here, which exported goods and services worth 10 billion euros last year, " the diplomatic mission noted. - Like the economy of Belarus, the economy of Vorarlberg is characterized by openness: 60% of GDP is exported. About 2.5 million tourists visit this region every year. There are headquarters and the main production of a number of world-famous European companies located there. The history of industrial cooperation between Belarus and Vorarlberg began in the 1980s."

The head of the Belarusian diplomatic mission, while visiting the region, met with the leadership of the Vorarlberg Land government. During the talks, mutual interest was confirmed in preserving the long-standing traditions of economic and business cooperation between Belarusian manufacturers and companies from Vorarlberg, and the important role of support from state administration structures in this process was noted.

During the meeting with the leadership of the Vorarlberg Chamber of Economics, the main topics were improving the exchange of information on trade, production and investment proposals of Belarusian and Austrian business entities, additional ways of mutual assistance to direct contacts between the business circles of Belarus and Austria.

Andrey Dapkiunas held talks with the management of some large industrial companies that have been working with Belarus for a long time and are interested in new joint trade and production projects.

The Belarusian diplomat discussed with the head of the Birch Holding Group of companies Hubert Birch the preparation for the implementation of projects related to the optimization of technological and energy processes at Belarusian chemical and oil refineries, energy-saving measures in the cement industry, the supply of high-tech equipment for the Belarusian dairy and meat industry. Andrey Dapkiunas expressed gratitude to Hubert Birch for his sincere long-term efforts as co-chairman of the Austrian-Belarusian Business Council to promote contacts between businessmen of Belarus and Austria.

During the meetings with Austrian industrialists, the Belarusian ambassador paid special attention to the opportunities to organize high-tech production in the Belarusian free economic zones, including in Brest, Grodno, Mogilev, as well as in the Chinese-Belarusian Industrial Park "Great Stone".

The prospects of creating a clean production of innovative building materials in Belarus, the purchase of Belarusian fruit products by Austrian producers were also considered.
