The profit of Russian insurers in 2022 decreased by 17.3% to 202.6 billion rubles. This is reported in the review of the Bank of Russia.
The regulator explains the decrease in the indicator by a decrease in profits from investment activities, primarily due to transactions with financial instruments and foreign currency.
As a result of the reduction in profits, the profitability of insurance companies also decreased. Return on equity was 19.5%, return on assets – 4.6%.
The Central Bank points out that in 2022 growth slowed down and the structure of assets of Russian insurers changed. The total assets of insurers at the end of the year amounted to 4.6 trillion rubles, an increase of 6.9% compared to the previous year.
