The Cabinet of Ministers directs 6.5 billion rubles. to create innovative centers of nuclear medicine

The Cabinet of Ministers directs 4.7 billion rubles. to create a standard clinical center for ion therapy in the city of Protvino (Moscow region) at the Institute of High Energy Physics. The corresponding order was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

At the same time, 3.5 billion rubles are allocated for the manufacture, assembly and installation of high – tech equipment, 143 million rubles-for design work. Part of the funds will also be allocated for the reconstruction of the building to accommodate the equipment. The start of operation of the center is scheduled for 2025.

It is planned to place a specialized carbon synchrotron in the center. Such devices are used to treat a wide range of oncological diseases. The installation will test the latest methods of radiation therapy, which will be used throughout the country in the future.

In addition, M. Mishustin signed a decree on the allocation of 1.83 billion rubles. to create a proton radiation therapy complex in Moscow on the basis of the Kurchatov Institute. This technology is also used in the treatment of complex tumors. Like the center in Protvino, the new complex is planned to open in 2025.
