In 2024, as part of the implementation on the territory of St. Petersburg‑In addition to the regional project "Development, standardization and mass production of UAS and components", a regional research and production center will be established in the direction of the national project "Unmanned Aircraft Systems".

It will be located on the basis of the infrastructure of the St. Petersburg Technopark‑St. Petersburg and will occupy a territory with a total area of more than 2.5 thousand square meters. m. The Center's activities will be interconnected with the existing infrastructure of the Regional Engineering Center for Radioelectronic Instrumentation and the Prototyping Center, which serve as collective use centers, belong to the technological services of the NPC and partially perform the functions of a laboratory and research center.

In addition, the Ingria Business Incubator is expected to be involved in the development of this project. This is an infrastructure platform operating on the territory of the Technopark for the acceleration and "cultivation" of small high-tech companies and innovative projects (startups).

"The Government of St. Petersburg‑St. Petersburg considers unmanned aircraft systems as one of the promising industries for the new specialization of the urban economy. Our city is one of the largest in the country in terms of drone production. He is involved in solving complex tasks within the framework of the implementation of each of the five federal projects included in the national project "Unmanned Aircraft Systems". We are extremely interested in promoting this industry and are implementing a set of measures to support St. Petersburg manufacturers," said Vice-Governor Vladimir Knyaginin.

He noted that one of the important steps in the development of the BAS infrastructure will be the creation of a regional research and production center this year. It will focus on the innovative activities of small companies and startups.

At the next stage, it is planned to build a large NPC (with an area of more than 18 thousand square meters) using the infrastructure of a special economic zone of a technical and innovative type in St. Petersburg‑St. Petersburg. This project is expected to be implemented in 2025, taking into account federal co-financing.

It is worth noting that today the St. Petersburg Technopark‑St. Petersburg is actively involved in the development of UAS: a special residency program for UAS startups (Ingria-Drone) has been launched at the Business Incubator. Engineering centers (RIC REP and CP) carry out the development and manufacture of pilot batches, components for various types of UAVS and elements of systems to counter the illegal use of UAS, including in the reverse engineering format. Conferences, competitions and other thematic events are held. A scientific and production cluster of unmanned technologies has been created in St. Petersburg‑St. Petersburg with the participation of the Technopark.

In addition, today about 100 structural divisions of various types operate on the basis of scientific and educational organizations and enterprises of the city. Including more than 40 laboratories, 15 testing and engineering centers, as well as 3 certification centers, 7 test sites, whose activities are aimed at conducting scientific research, testing and development in the field of UAS.
