In Russia, CTP policies for passenger taxis have become more common. In 2023, 248 thousand such insurances were issued — 39% more than a year earlier. This was announced by the Bank of Russia.

It is reported that the positive dynamics was primarily facilitated by the entry into force of the taxi law — now a driver without a special policy can have a permit for the carriage of passengers and luggage suspended. Nevertheless, almost 113 thousand taxi drivers, whose data are included in regional registers, did not have a CTP policy with a mark for a taxi.

The average cost of a CTP policy for a taxi amounted to 27.8 thousand rubles, over the year it rose in price by only 5%. Taxi drivers working on a personal or rented car drive it much more carefully and become the culprits of accidents less often than taxi drivers. Therefore, for policyholders — individuals, the policy costs on average 2 times cheaper than for taxi owners — legal entities.

The number of insurance claims in 2023 under CTP contracts for taxis concluded a year earlier decreased by 10%. At the same time, the frequency of insurance claims for such policies is 6.6 times higher than for policies for other passenger cars.
