X5 Retail Group has signed an strategic partnership agreement with Sad-Gigant Group, one of the leading Russian producers of apples, X5 informed.
The agreement envisages a wide range of cooperation aspects, including the long-term planning of supplies of fruit and processed agricultural products, as well as breeding of new apple varieties.
Sad-Gigant Group is considering opportunities for processing bioorganic goods and supplying juices and baby purees to X5 Group's retail chains.
X5 Retail Group N.V. is the largest retail company in Russia in terms of sales. The company runs stores in several formats: the Pyaterochka soft discount stores, the Perekrestok supermarkets, and the Karusel hypermarkets, along with corner shops under various brands. On May 18, 2006, the merger of Pyaterochka and Perekrestok established a leading company in the grocery retail trade market of Russia. On June 26, 2008, X5 completed the acquisition of Karusel store chain, thereby considerably strengthening its power in the hypermarket segment. In 2010, the company acquired the Kopeyka discount chain.
As of December 31, 2017, the company exercised control over 12,121 outlets with leading positions in Moscow and St. Petersburg and a considerable footprint in the European part of Russia. The company's network comprises 11,225 Pyaterochka stores, 638 Perekrestok supermarkets, 93 Karusel hypermarkets and 165 Express stores. As of the same date, the company managed 39 distribution centers and owned 3,144 trucks in the Russian Federation.
As of February 2018, the shareholding structure of X5 Retail Group was as follows: CTF Holdings S.A. (47.86%), Intertrust Trustees Ltd (Axon Trust) (11.43%), X5 directors (0.06%), treasury shares (0.01%), the free-float (40.63%).
IFRS net profit of X5 Retail Group for 9 months 2017 grew by 30.7% to RUB 25.975 billion from RUB 19.874 billion the year before. Revenue increased by 26.2% to RUB 933.303 billion from RUB 739.491 billion, gross profit by 24.9% to RUB 222.998 billion from RUB 178.552 billion, EBITDA by 28.4% to RUB 72.392 billion from RUB 56.361 billion.
In 2017, revenue of X5 Retail Group N.V. increased by 25.5% to RUB 1.287 trillion from RUB 1.025 trillion the year before. Revenue from Pyaterochka stores increased by 29% to RUB 1.001 trillion from RUB 775.58 billion, revenue from the Perekrestok stores by 20.3% to RUB 186.936 billion from RUB 155.404 billion, revenue from the Karusel chain by 6.9% to RUB 89.302 billion from RUB 83.558 billion.
In 2017, under the efficiency increase program, X5 closed 127 Pyaterochka stores, 20 Perekrestok supermarkets, two Karusel hypermarkets and 30 Express stores.
The company's revenue for Q4 2017 increased by 23.4% to RUB 359.388 billion from RUB 291.289 billion the year before.
