The draft law on the restructuring of Russian Post as a joint-stock company is recommended for the second reading. This decision was made at the extended session of the Committee on natural resources, property and land relations, the State Duma informed.
Presenting a report, Nikolay Nikolaev, chairman of the dedicated committee, noted that the draft law aims at the comprehensive enhancement of the system of postal services so as to ensure high quality of service.
Federal state unitary enterprise Russian Post (tax number: 7724261610) is the federal mail service network comprising 87 branches, 41,901 post offices.
The company provides postal, financial, information / communication and other services in cities and rural settlements across Russia. Russian Post established in 2002 united the entities providing federal mail services. The company's authorized capital is RUB 83.254 million.
IFRS profit of FSUE Russian Post for 2016 decreased by 38% to RUB 1.142 billion from RUB 1.845 billion the year before. Sales revenue increased by 5% to RUB 158.012 billion from RUB 149.835 billion, profit from operations 1.4 times to RUB 5.304 billion from RUB 3.889 billion. Profit before profits tax decreased 2.3 times to RUB 1.616 billion against RUB 3.665 billion.
In 2017, FSUE Russian Post increased revenue from operations by 8.1% year-on-year to RUB 178.1 billion against RUB 164.8 billion in 2016. Revenue from postal services increased by 2% to RUB 77.8 billion from RUB 76 billion, revenue from the parcel delivery business by 21% to RUB 48.9 billion from RUB 40.6 billion, revenue from financial services by 4% to RUB 48.3 billion from RUB 46.5 billion. Actual net profit of Russian Post reached RUB 758 million exceeding the target levels by 28%.
In 2017, Russian Post opened 61 new permanent post offices in cities, towns and communities, 29 parcel distribution and reception centers (with a total of 550 such centers currently in operation), 116 new courier delivery departments in various regions of Russia (a total 260 departments in operation), 13 mobile post offices are put into operation, 136 outlets of the S-mini format (with an area of no more than 25 square meters) in shopping and business centers, supermarkets were opened.
